Do you have someone in the family going off to Uni soon? If so they will need some kitchen essentials to help them keep themselves fed. It is a good idea to find out what is provided in the kitchen. Often appliances such as toasters, kettles, irons and ironing boards are provided. For your first year you will probably want to take your own pans, chopping board, jug, tin opener etc. You will also probably want to take your own dinner plates, mugs and cutlery.
Other good items to take to Uni include necessities such as bin bags, washing up liquid, sponges, washing powder, a couple of tea towels and some containers for leftovers. You could also get in some coffee, tea, hot chocolate and sugar depending on what you like to drink.
It is also an idea to take first aid basics and some over the counter pain relief such as Paracetamol to help you cope with the anticipated hangovers from Fresher’s week.
Stock up on some food basics such as pasta, rice, baked beans and frozen vegetables. Pot noodles are also a good student staple!
